Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has accepted his appointment as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.
Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility.
The appointment followed the constitution of the APC Presidential Campaign Council by President Tinubu. In the council, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary, while Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Chairman and Vice-Chairman I respectively.
The 223-member council is expected to coordinate the ruling party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Reacting to his appointment, Yari said he accepted the role with a strong sense of responsibility and gratitude.
“I accept this responsibility with deep gratitude and full seriousness.”
He added, “My sincere thanks go to President Bola Tinubu and the party for the trust placed in me, and to our party leadership for the confidence. I do not take it lightly.”
The former Zamfara State governor said the campaign would go beyond conventional electoral activities, describing it as an opportunity to engage Nigerians on the country’s future.
He said, “This will be a conversation with the Nigerian people in every state, every language, every faith about the future we are building together.”
Yari pledged to lead the campaign with discipline, unity and respect for Nigerians across political and social divides.
He also urged Nigerians to prioritise progress over division, saying the APC would rely on its record in seeking voters’ support.
According to him, preparations for the campaign would commence immediately, with the party aiming to secure victory in the 2027 presidential election.
“By the grace of God, and with the effort of us all, we will deliver victory in January 2027,” Yari said.
