Wike faction dismisses Oyo court judgment on PDP convention

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to Nyesom Wike has rejected the ruling of the Oyo State High Court affirming the November 2025 convention, saying it carries “no legal effect whatsoever.”

In a statement, the caretaker committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Samuel Anyanwu insisted that earlier Federal High Court orders already nullified the convention and barred the Independent National Electoral Commission from monitoring it.

They said, “The judgment is an inconsequential development and a mere academic exercise.”

They added, “A judgment that does not bind INEC is of no consequence whatsoever.”

The Oyo High Court had upheld the convention that produced Tanimu Turaki, granting all reliefs sought by claimant Folahan Malomo Adelabi.

The Wike-backed group reiterated that INEC has already complied with subsisting Abuja and Ibadan Federal High Court rulings that nullified the convention, saying, “Those judgments remain binding.”

The dispute continues as the Court of Appeal of Nigeria has reserved judgment, while the PDP national secretariat at Wadata Plaza remains sealed amid the ongoing leadership crisis.
