The Nigeria Police Force has officially postponed the enforcement date for vehicles operating with unauthorized tinted glass. Originally set to begin on August 12, 2025, the enforcement will now commence on October 2, 2025.

This decision follows an overwhelming public response, with numerous vehicle owners applying for tinted glass permits through official channels. Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi explained that the extension allows sufficient time for proper processing and verification of applications in line with national security requirements.

“We have observed an impressive level of compliance from Nigerians, many of whom have initiated the permit process in accordance with our directives. This extension is to ensure that due diligence is followed, and that only qualified individuals are issued permits,” stated ACP Adejobi.

The police emphasized that each application will undergo thorough background checks to verify compliance with legal and security standards. The review process will assess whether applicants’ use of tinted windows meets approved guidelines.

This regulation forms part of national security measures to enhance public safety, prevent criminal activities, and promote road accountability. The police warned that strict enforcement will begin immediately after the new deadline, with violators facing legal consequences.

Vehicle owners without permits are urged to complete their applications before October 2 through the official Nigeria Police portal at https://npf.gov.ng/tinted. The Force reaffirmed its commitment to transparent and responsible permit issuance.
