The Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Aloy Ejimakor, has expressed the need for President Bola Tinubu, to release Kanu from detention.

Ejimakor who made this known via a post on X while reacting to revelations that former President Muhammadu Buhari prevented his government from assassinating Kanu, urged Tinubu to wash his hands off the case of the agitator by setting him free.

Former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Buhari, Femi Adesina had made a revelation in his new book, that the immediate past President opted for Kanu’s arrest instead of assassination as proposed by some government officials.

Reacting to the development, Ejimakor said Adesina’s revelation shows that Kanu was never meant to get a fair trial in Nigeria.

The lawyer tweeted: “Buhari’s confessed plot to assassinate MAZI NNAMDI KANU underscores the lingering notion that #MNK confessed to get a fair trial in Nigeria.

“That’s why they resorted to extraordinary rendition & illegal detention. President Tinubu should wash his hands off & #FreeMNK.”
