W’Cup playoff: Eguavoen slams Super Eagles’ delayed training

Nigeria Football Federation Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen, has raised concerns over the timing of the recent pay dispute involving the Super Eagles.

“The timing of the strike was wrong. They might have had their reasons but the timing was not the best,” Eguavoen said.

The players had refused to train on Tuesday to press for the payment of their outstanding bonuses.

However, the matter has now been resolved, and the team returned to training on Wednesday night at the Institut Royal de Formation Des Cadres in Salé, near Rabat.

Despite the brief disruption, Eguavoen remains optimistic about the team’s prospects.

“I have faith in them to rise up to the occasion and do the business on Thursday, and afterwards, on Sunday,” he told thenff.com.

The Super Eagles are set to clash with the Gabonese Panthers in Rabat on Thursday, with the match kicking off at 5 pm Nigerian time.
