WCQ: Tuchel recalls Bellingham, Foden to England squad

Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden have been recalled to the England squad by manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania.

Bellingham, the Real Madrid midfielder, was left out of October’s squad as he was returning from shoulder surgery, while Manchester City forward Foden joins the national team for the first time since Tuchel’s initial camp in March.

England, having already secured qualification for next year’s tournament with two matches to spare, will host Serbia at Wembley next Thursday before traveling to Albania three days later.

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is the most eye-catching inclusion, with uncapped players Nico O’Reilly and Jarell Quansah also called up.

Adam Wharton and Nick Pope return to the squad, while Morgan Gibbs-White, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Myles Lewis-Skelly, James Trafford, and Ollie Watkins drop out.

Tuchel opted against recalling Jack Grealish, who is on loan at Everton from Manchester City, and Real Madrid right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold also misses out.

England sealed their place at next year’s World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States last month after a 5-0 victory over Latvia in Riga.
