Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has expressed confidence that the team will give their all to claim victory against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
Nigeria are set to face their West African neighbours in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchday 10 encounter at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Tuesday (today).
Heading into the decisive clash, Éric Chelle’s men occupy third place in Group C with 14 points from nine matches.
The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, must secure maximum points and hope South Africa falter against Rwanda to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Troost-Ekong admitted that qualification is not entirely within their control but assured fans that the players are determined to end on a high note.
“There are players here who want to make names for themselves, and those who will want their names to go down well in history. So, they are fully prepared and will play to win,” Troost-Ekong said during a pre-match press conference.
“Tomorrow may not be 100 per cent in our hands, but we try to do our best and win the match.”
