The Benue State Government has honoured Super Falcons forward, Francisca Mlumun Ordega, with some of its highest civilian accolades, celebrating her stellar performance at the recently concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

At a grand state reception in Makurdi on Wednesday night, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia announced a N50 million cash gift to Ordega, the naming of a street in her honour, and the allocation of a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment in the heart of the state capital.

The event, hosted by the government to applaud the football star’s contributions to Nigeria’s triumphant WAFCON 2024 campaign, drew dignitaries, sports enthusiasts, and young aspiring athletes.

Governor Alia lauded Ordega’s dedication, skill, and sportsmanship, describing her as a shining example for the youth of Benue and beyond.

“Francisca Ordega has brought glory to Benue State and the nation. Her passion, discipline, and remarkable talent merit every celebration. This is our humble token of appreciation,” he said.

The celebration not only recognised Ordega’s on-field achievements but also underscored her impact as an inspiration to the next generation of Nigerian athletes.
