The United States military has provided new details about its recent attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, confirming seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers carried out the precision strikes in an operation codenamed “Midnight Hammer.”

Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine described the complex mission during a Sunday briefing, noting Iran’s military failed to detect or respond to the attack.

“The main strike package comprised of 7 B-2 Spirit bombers,” Caine said, explaining the aircraft flew an 18-hour nonstop mission from the US mainland to Iran with multiple aerial refuelings.
“Iran’s fighters did not fly, and it appears that Iran’s surface to air missile systems did not see us throughout the mission. We retained the element of surprise.”
