Unity Cup: Arthur Okonkwo gets Super Eagles call-up

Head coach, Eric Chelle, has unveiled a 26-man squad for Nigeria’s campaign at the upcoming Unity Cup in London, with Arthur Okonkwo receiving a maiden invitation after committing his international future to the Super Eagles.

The Nigeria national football team handler selected a blend of experienced stars and emerging talents as the team intensifies preparations for the tournament, which will serve as part of Nigeria’s build-up to future international assignments.

Okonkwo, who recently impressed for Wrexham A.F.C., headlines the goalkeeping department alongside Francis Uzoho and home-based shot-stopper Michael Atata.

In defence, Chelle called up regular names such as Bruno Onyemaechi and Igoh Ogbu, while also handing opportunities to several home-based players including Obinna Igboke, Elias Ochobi and Chibueze Oputa.

The midfield features a mix of established internationals and promising youngsters, with Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika and Alhassan Yusuf among the notable inclusions.

Up front, Chelle invited attacking options such as Terem Moffi, Akor Adams and Moses Simon, while England-based duo Owen Oseni and Femi Azeez also made the list.

The Unity Cup is expected to provide Chelle an opportunity to test new players, reintegrate returning stars and further shape his squad ahead of future competitive fixtures.
