Former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has reignited calls for a third showdown with Oleksandr Usyk after the Ukrainian successfully defended his undisputed crown with a win over Daniel Dubois on Saturday night at Wembley.
Usyk, who retained his dominance in the division, added the IBF belt to his already stacked collection of WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC titles.
The Ukrainian extended his perfect professional record to 24-0 after dispatching Dubois in a gritty contest.
Having lost to Usyk twice in 2024, first in May and again in December, both times in Saudi Arabia, Fury had announced his retirement from boxing.
However, the 35-year-old Briton appears to be back in training and gearing up for one more chapter.
Taking to Instagram in a fiery video message shared by the Daily Mail, Fury acknowledged Usyk’s latest performance but insisted he remains the only man capable of beating the undefeated champion.
“Massive shout to Oleksandr Usyk, he did a fantastic performance tonight against Daniel Dubois, a good young game lad. Good tear-up, so congratulations to both men,” Fury said.
“Oleksandr Usyk knows there’s only one man who can beat him. I’ve done it twice before and the world knows it.”
Fury continued with his signature bravado, reflecting on his recent setbacks and renewed determination.
“I’ve been f***** good and proper without any vaseline on and took it like a man. Here’s me, not f****** around at some boxing match. I’m out on the f****** road running.
“I’m running tonight, I come home, I’ve done my job and I’ve got myself back and I am the man. I’m the f****** spartan. No matter what anyone wants to say, I f****** won.
“Guaranteed 100 per cent there’s only one man, GK all day every day.”
The pair’s first encounter ended in a narrow split decision in Usyk’s favor, marking the first professional defeat of Fury’s career.
The rematch in December followed a similar script, with Usyk again getting the nod from the judges, though Fury and his team have remained adamant that the result was unjust.
After their second meeting, Usyk was full of praise for Fury, setting aside the animosity of their pre-fight buildup.
“I very respect this guy because I think he’s very tough .. Tyson Fury makes me strong. Tyson is a great opponent. Big man. He’s a good man. Tyson, a lot of talk, but it’s just show.”
Fury’s callout has stirred hopes among boxing fans for a trilogy bout that could once again bring the heavyweight spotlight to center stage.
