Tottenham drop Richarlison from 2026/2027 EPL squad

Tottenham Hotspur have omitted Brazilian forward Richarlison from their Premier League squad for the 2026/27 season amid growing uncertainty over his future at the club.

The 29-year-old has reportedly been informed that new head coach Roberto De Zerbi does not consider him part of his plans.

According to sources, Tottenham communicated the decision before Tuesday’s transfer deadline to allow Richarlison time to explore a move elsewhere.

Although the Premier League transfer window has closed, the forward could still leave Spurs for a country where the transfer market remains open.

Türkiye is one possible destination, with its window scheduled to close on September 4.
However, Tottenham have not received any offer for Richarlison as of Thursday.

De Zerbi had already revealed last weekend that the former Everton striker wanted to leave the north London club.

“Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave,” De Zerbi said after Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, a match in which Richarlison was not included in the squad.

Richarlison joined Spurs from Everton in 2022 and scored 11 Premier League goals last season, matching his best league tally since arriving in north London.

The Brazilian also appeared to address speculation over his future in a social media post earlier this week, calling for “respect” from the club.

“I’ve always made it clear, every time I had the chance, that leaving for another club would only happen if it was also good for the club. If it wasn’t, I would never accept it. Just like I didn’t accept it when everything was going badly and they needed me,” he said on Instagram.

“I stayed and gave everything. So, I hope they treat my situation with the same respect I’ve always shown Spurs and everyone who worked with me during this period. Just don’t try to decide for me.”

Tottenham strengthened their squad on deadline day by signing Mykhailo Mudryk on loan and Tosin Adarabioyo permanently from Chelsea.

The club had earlier brought in Sandro Tonali, Sávio, Mateus Fernandes and Omar Marmoush during the transfer window.
