Tinubu pays condolence visit to late Bauchi Islamic scholar’s family

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday paid a condolence visit to Bauchi State following the death of prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

The President arrived at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, at about 4:09 p.m., where he was accorded a guard of honour by personnel of the Nigerian Air Force.

He was received by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, alongside other top government officials, including Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang; the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; and the Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba.

Speaking shortly after his arrival, President Tinubu described the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as “a towering figure whose teachings and devotion to Islamic scholarship shaped generations across Nigeria and beyond.”

“Nigeria has lost a rare spiritual leader whose life was dedicated to faith, peace, and moral guidance. His legacy will continue to inspire millions,” the President said.

Tinubu was accompanied on the visit by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni; and his son, Seyi Tinubu, among other senior government officials.

Governor Bala Mohammed, while welcoming the President, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of national unity and respect for religious leaders.

“The presence of Mr President at this moment of grief is a great comfort to the family of the late Sheikh and the entire people of Bauchi State,” Mohammed said.
