Serbian tennis ace, Novak Djokovic, has announced he will withdraw from the Qatar Open, citing fatigue as the reason for his decision.
This development comes just ten days after Djokovic fell to world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open final.
Over the past few years, Djokovic has frequently indicated that his schedule would become more selective, focusing on Grand Slam events and tournaments that hold significance for Serbia.
The world No. 3 also skipped the first round of Davis Cup qualifiers, aiming to safeguard his physical condition and avoid the long journey to South America after a grueling Melbourne campaign.
Djokovic is next set to play at the ATP Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, where he will tie Roger Federer’s record of five titles.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will lead the ATP 500 hard-court tournament in Doha, starting Monday, as the top two seeds.
