Tennis: Djokovic withdraws from Miami Open after shoulder injury

Serbian tennis star, Novak Djokovic, has announced he will miss the Miami Open due to a shoulder injury.

Djokovic last competed at Indian Wells, where he fell to Jack Draper in a four-round, three-set match, visibly struggling through pain while wearing an arm sleeve. As a result, he will sit out the second half of the ‘Sunshine Double.’

The 24-time Grand Slam winner has previously triumphed at the Miami Open three times, claiming titles in 2014, 2015, and 2016, but has not returned to the top of the podium since.

The draw for the 2026 Miami Open is scheduled for Monday, with the tournament’s first matches set to begin on Tuesday.

With Djokovic absent, he will forfeit the 650 ranking points he earned as runner-up last year in Miami, potentially dropping him out of the world’s top three.

Alexander Zverev sits just 350 points behind, setting up a tight battle for positioning.
