Ten Hag to replace Alonso at Leverkusen – Report

Former Manchester United and Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag, is on the verge of returning to the dugout, this time with Bayer Leverkusen.

The Dutch tactician is reportedly set to take over from Xabi Alonso, who is poised to depart the German club to take the reins at Real Madrid this summer.

Renowned football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, broke the news on Thursday via his X account, stating, “Bayer Leverkusen made progress in talks with Erik ten Hag to become their new head coach.

“Ten Hag has given his total availability after direct contact taking place earlier this week.”

Ten Hag has been without a managerial role since his departure from Manchester United in November.

Since then, Ajax explored the possibility of reuniting with their former boss after Francesco Farioli exited the club, citing “disagreements” with the Eredivisie side’s board.

Ajax’s technical director, Alex Kroes, confirmed he had discussions with Ten Hag over the weekend, but declined to share additional details.
