PSV extended their perfect Eredivisie start with a 4–2 home victory against FC Groningen on Saturday night, thanks largely to super-sub Esmir Bajraktarevic, who struck twice after the break to guide the Eindhoven side past a shaky first half.
Guus Til opened the scoring with a moment of acrobatic brilliance, while Ruben van Bommel added a composed third following a clever assist from Ivan Perišić.
Groningen replied through Brynjólfur Willumsson and later Mats Seuntjens, but Bajraktarevic’s brace proved decisive in sealing the win.
Manager Peter Bosz acknowledged PSV’s unbeaten run but admitted his side lacked sharpness before halftime, gifting their opponents chances.
Still, he was full of praise for the 20-year-old American winger, who seized his rare opportunity to shine.
Alongside the goals, there were more positives: Sergiño Dest impressed again, Ricardo Pepi returned from injury, and youngsters Paul Wanner and Joël van den Berg made their first-team debuts.
Despite defensive lapses, PSV’s firepower was enough to keep their 100% record intact, leaving Groningen to regret their second-half collapse.
