Kefas was notably absent from the PDP’s elective convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15. While the convention was underway, he appeared in a widely circulated video inspecting the stadium that was to host his defection event.

After the inspection, Kefas told journalists, “I am defecting from the PDP to the APC to join hands with President Bola Tinubu in actualising the Renewed Hope Agenda,” adding that the state was preparing to welcome party leaders for the rally.

Earlier on Monday, November 17, members of the Taraba State House of Assembly and the State Executive Council resigned from the PDP and joined the ruling APC, fueling anticipation of the governor’s imminent defection.
