Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has stated that despite her suspension, she never stopped working for her constituents, remaining actively engaged in delivering democratic dividends and advancing their welfare.

The Senator made the remarks on Sunday during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of smart markets in Okene and Okehi Local Government Areas. The project is designed to empower local traders, particularly women, and boost grassroots economic development.

Each market will feature 80 modern shops—comprising 40 lock-up units and 40 open stalls—equipped with solar-powered electricity, boreholes, modern toilets, individual shop sockets, truck-friendly loading bays, and security-enhancing streetlights to ensure a safe and efficient trading environment.

The markets will be located at Ihima Central Market in Oboroke, Okehi LGA, and a new Community Market in Okene LGA, both selected for their strategic suitability and expansion potential.

The initiative is part of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s broader development agenda for Kogi Central, with additional constituency projects set for rollout in the coming months. The markets are expected to be completed and commissioned in November 2025, coinciding with her second anniversary in office.

Reaffirming her inclusive leadership approach, the Senator emphasized that service to the people transcends political affiliations, vowing to continue delivering lasting infrastructure and economic opportunities across the senatorial district.

Highlighting her governance philosophy, she said: “I represent all the good people of Kogi Central at the Senate. Politics happens during elections, and after that, it’s performance that would impact everyone irrespective of political differences.”

The event was attended by traditional leaders, women’s groups, and youth organizations, who commended the Senator’s resilience, commitment, and unwavering service despite persistent political challenges.
