Matchday 16 of the Turkish Süper Lig produced high drama at Papara Park, where Trabzonspor missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Galatasaray after being held to a pulsating 3–3 draw by Beşiktaş.
Everything appeared set for the hosts to turn up the pressure at the summit, but Beşiktaş had other ideas.
The visitors stunned the home crowd early on, with Tammy Abraham firing them in front in the 18th minute before Václav Černý struck again just four minutes later to leave Trabzonspor reeling.
Despite occupying second place in the table, Trabzonspor struggled to contain a confident Beşiktaş side sitting fifth.
Ernest Muçi briefly reignited hope for the hosts with a goal, only for Černý to restore the two-goal cushion as he completed his brace for the visitors.
The momentum shifted dramatically when Beşiktaş were reduced to 10 men following El Bilal Touré’s red card, a turning point Trabzonspor were quick to exploit.
Christ Inao Oulaï pulled another goal back to set up a tense finale, and deep into the contest Oleksandr Zubkov produced a stunning equaliser to salvage a point for the home side.
The result leaves Trabzonspor second on 35 points, still four adrift of table-toppers Galatasaray, while Beşiktaş remain fifth with 26 points after a thrilling encounter.
