Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, received a yellow card for dissent as Galatasaray were held to a 1-1 draw by Besiktas in a fiery Istanbul derby on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
The Nigerian forward’s frustration boiled over just before half-time when he angrily confronted the referee over a decision, earning himself a booking.
His outburst came at a difficult moment for Galatasaray, who were already struggling after being reduced to 10 men.
Besiktas made a bright start, taking the lead in the 12th minute through Tammy Abraham’s composed finish that silenced the home crowd at Rams Park.
Things went from bad to worse for Galatasaray when Davinson Sánchez was shown a straight red card in the 34th minute for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
With tempers flaring, Osimhen’s protests drew a yellow card from the referee shortly before the interval.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Galatasaray showed resilience in the second half. Ilkay Gündoğan levelled the score in the 55th minute after latching onto a clever pass from Lucas Torreira.
The equaliser set up a cagey second half, with both sides tightening up defensively and limiting clear-cut chances.
The tempo dipped as the clock ran down, and Osimhen was substituted in the 86th minute after an intense outing. Wilfred Ndidi also made way moments later following a quiet performance.
Galatasaray remain top of the Turkish Super Lig table with 22 points from eight matches, while Besiktas, who might feel they let a win slip away, sit on 13 points after sharing the spoils.
