Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu marked a triumphant return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by netting a crucial goal as Trabzonspor edged Kasimpasa 2-1 in the Turkish Süper Lig on Friday.
The Nigerian forward was introduced at halftime, replacing Kazeem Olaigbe, and wasted no time making his presence felt, scoring just five minutes after entering the pitch.
Christ Inao Oulaï provided the assist, giving Trabzonspor the lead at their home ground.
Onuachu’s strike brought his tally for the 2025/2026 season to 12 goals, keeping him tied for second in the league’s scoring charts.
The 2025 AFCON bronze medalist had also contributed one goal during Nigeria’s campaign in Morocco.
Kasimpasa responded in the 61st minute, with Fousseni Diabaté finishing a swift breakaway set up by Irfan Can Kahveci to level the scores.
The deadlock persisted until the 84th minute, when Oleksandr Zubkov delivered the match-winner, converting a pass from Anthony Nwakaeme from the left side of the box.
With the victory in Round 19, Trabzonspor strengthened their position in the Süper Lig standings, with Onuachu immediately proving his value after returning from international duty.
