Spanish side Real Oviedo open talks to sign S’Eagles’ Zaidu Sanusi

Spanish Segunda División side, Real Oviedo, have initiated discussions with FC Porto over the potential signing of Nigerian international defender Zaidu Sanusi.

Sanusi is on course to depart Porto this summer after slipping down the pecking order at the Estádio do Dragão.

The 28-year-old saw limited action last season due to a lengthy injury layoff.

The Super Eagles left-back picked up the injury in February, shortly after returning from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he played a role in Nigeria’s run to the final and eventual second-place finish.

According to Portuguese daily A Bola, Real Oviedo have expressed interest in securing Sanusi’s services on a free transfer.

However, with two years still left on his current deal, Porto have ruled out a contract termination and are demanding financial compensation from Oviedo before agreeing to the transfer.

Sanusi initially moved to Porto in 2020 from fellow Portuguese outfit Santa Clara.
