Shettima leads Nigeria’s delegation to Ethiopia for nutrition exchange

Vice President Kashim Shettima has travelled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to lead a Nigerian delegation on a government-to-government exchange focused on improving nutrition delivery.

The visit follows an invitation from Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Temesgen Tiruneh, who oversees the country’s multi-sectoral approach to nutrition.

Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Shettima will participate in the inaugural Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Visit, which is designed to enable officials from both countries to share experiences on developing coordinated nutrition programmes at the federal, state and local government levels.

The statement said, “The Nigerian team will exchange experiences with Ethiopia on how a government-led plan can improve nutrition delivery, as well as tour key establishments dedicated to boosting nutrition delivery across the country.”

As part of the programme, Shettima is expected to visit a wheat farm and banana plantation in Oromia, the Bounty of the Basket Training Centre and selected households in Mojo, as well as Jabdu Motors in Bishoftu.

He is accompanied by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, among other officials.

The Vice President is expected to return to Abuja after the engagements in Ethiopia.
