Hellas Verona staged a strong comeback to defeat Bologna FC 1909 2-1, earning a crucial three points and ending a frustrating 12-match winless run.
Bologna, managed by Vincenzo Italiano, started brightly and looked threatening early in the contest.
Castro tested Verona’s defence, but the visitors stayed organised at the back. At the other end, goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski was called into action, producing a save to deny a powerful diagonal shot from Orban, while Bowie later squandered a close-range chance.
The intensity increased after the break, with Orsolini coming close to opening the scoring when his effort drifted narrowly wide of the post.
Bologna eventually broke the deadlock when Rowe finished off a well-worked move, converting a precise assist from Zortea beyond Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò.
However, Verona reacted swiftly. Just four minutes later, Frese restored parity, giving the visitors renewed momentum.
The turnaround was completed soon after when Orban led a quick counterattack and set up Bowie, who calmly beat Skorupski to put Verona ahead.
Verona held firm in the closing stages despite Bologna’s late push. Odgaard nearly equalised but saw his attempt saved.
Sarr appeared to seal the win in the 86th minute, though the goal was ruled out after VAR spotted a foul by Roberto Gagliardini during the build-up.
The win lifts Verona to 18 points, helping them climb off the bottom of the table as they continue their fight for survival in Serie A, with teams like US Cremonese and ACF Fiorentina also involved in the relegation battle.
