Roma produced a dominant 4–0 win over Fiorentina, moving to within a point of fourth-placed Juventus in the race for European qualification, while the Viola’s position leaves them effectively safe from relegation.
The result reignited Roma’s push for a Champions League spot after dropped points from Juventus, Milan, Napoli and Como elsewhere in the table.
The Giallorossi were boosted by the return of Manu Koné to the starting XI, while Paulo Dybala was only fit enough for the bench.
They were still without several key players including Neil El Aynaoui (suspended), Lorenzo Pellegrini, Artem Dovbyk and Evan Ferguson through injury.
Fiorentina, meanwhile, were missing Moise Kean, Roberto Piccoli, Niccolò Fortini and Tariq Lamptey, though they welcomed back Robin Gosens and Fabiano Parisi.
With Cremonese losing earlier in the day, their survival hopes were already essentially secured.
Roma struck first in clinical fashion. Donyell Malen drove into a crowded area and saw his effort deflect off Luca Ranieri, looping onto the crossbar.
From the resulting corner, AS Roma capitalised as Gianluca Mancini rose unmarked to head home from close range.
The second goal followed quickly, with Niccolò Pisilli sparking a counterattack.
The move flowed through Matías Soulé and Mario Hermoso before Wesley arrived to finish first time from inside the box with a composed right-foot strike.
Fiorentina offered little resistance as Roma continued to dominate. Koné easily beat Nicolò Fagioli down the flank and squared for Hermoso to tap in from virtually on the goal line, extending the lead before the break.
There were signs of life from the visitors just before half-time, with Fagioli forcing a deflection that looped over the bar, but they still went into the interval firmly second best.
The second half began with three substitutions from Fiorentina, including youth striker Riccardo Braschi, who almost made an immediate impact by striking the base of the post within seconds of coming on.
Roma, however, remained in control. Malen again threatened, forcing a fingertip save from David De Gea that pushed his deflected effort onto the crossbar.
Fiorentina struggled to clear their lines, and Pisilli eventually added a fourth when he headed in from a trademark outside-of-the-boot delivery by Malen.
In the closing stages, Robinio Vaz came close but failed to react in time to convert a low cross from Zeki Çelik, as Roma comfortably saw out an emphatic victory.
