Serie A: Milan squander two-goal lead as Parma snatch draw

AC Milan surrendered a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 with struggling Parma on Saturday, leaving them level on points with Napoli atop Serie A.

Milan had stormed into a 2-0 lead by the 25th minute, with Alexis Saelemaekers’ early strike followed by a Rafael Leao penalty seemingly setting the Rossoneri on course to extend their lead over Napoli ahead of the champions’ challenging trip to Bologna on Sunday.

However, Parma responded brilliantly before halftime. Adrian Bernabe curled in a stunning effort to halve the deficit, and Enrico Delprato’s header secured a well-deserved draw for the hosts, lifting them two points clear of the relegation zone. Milan also came close to further damage just before Delprato’s goal, with Mateo Pellegrino striking the post.

After the break, Parma continued to pressure Milan, forcing the visitors to withstand an attacking surge. Milan had chances to snatch all three points late on, but substitute Christian Pulisic and Saelemaekers squandered golden opportunities.

Pulisic rolled wide in a one-on-one with Parma keeper Zion Suzuki in the 76th minute, while Saelemaekers blasted over an open goal six minutes later after skilfully evading Suzuki.

The result leaves Milan level with Napoli at the summit, but both Roma and Inter Milan could overtake them on Sunday.

Roma face a challenging away fixture, while local rivals Inter host Lazio at the San Siro, each trailing the leaders by just a single point.

Meanwhile, Juventus remain three points behind after a 0-0 Turin derby against Torino.

Despite several chances, including a low drive from Che Adams that was expertly saved by Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio and a close-range header from Weston McKennie denied by Torino’s Alberto Paleari, neither side could find the breakthrough.

Juventus sit fifth on 19 points following a scrappy but entertaining encounter at the Allianz Stadium.
