Lazio surrendered a two-goal lead as AC Milan fought back to secure a 2-2 draw in their Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Saturday.
Matteo Cancellieri put Lazio ahead in the 10th minute after Nuno Tavares created the opening, with the winger’s cross allowing Cancellieri to finish into an unguarded net.
Lazio continued to dominate and doubled their advantage shortly before half-time.
Tijjani Noslin was credited with the goal in the 39th minute after a chaotic sequence in the Milan box saw the ball deflect off the post before Noslin got in the way of an attempted clearance.
Milan manager Ruben Amorim responded at the interval by introducing Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah and Diego Moreira, and the changes transformed the visitors after the break.
Moreira pulled one back for Milan in the 65th minute, controlling a cross from Samuel Chukwueze before firing a powerful volley past Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas.
The Belgian then completed his brace just two minutes later, receiving a pass from Adrien Rabiot before finding the far corner with a first-time finish to level the game.
Neither side was able to find a winning goal in the closing stages, although Moreira came close to completing his hat-trick from a difficult angle, while Omari Hutchinson also tested Mandas with a late effort.
The draw ended Lazio’s perfect start to the Serie A campaign, although Gennaro Gattuso’s side temporarily moved to the top of the table pending the outcome of the remaining weekend fixtures.
Milan, meanwhile, will be encouraged by their second-half comeback after trailing by two goals at the break.
