Como missed the chance to notch three consecutive Serie A victories and move into the top four after Nico Paz saw his 98th-minute penalty brilliantly saved, leaving the hosts to settle for a goalless draw against a resilient 10-man Atalanta at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
The match got off to a bizarre start when Honest Ahanor was shown a red card for an off-the-ball altercation with Máximo Perrone, with replays clearly showing the teenager slap the Como midfielder.
Gianluca Scamacca came close from a free kick, but Jean Butez was equal to the effort. With Atalanta reduced to 10 men, they largely absorbed Como’s pressure before halftime, sacrificing Scamacca in the process.
Anastasios Douvikas, cleared of injury concerns, had a golden opportunity right after the sending off but misfired a promising chance.
Marco Carnesecchi was in sensational form for Atalanta, denying Paz twice, the second save parried powerfully only to Perrone, who was then blocked brilliantly at close range.
Carnesecchi also stopped Mërgim Vojvoda’s strike, while Jacobo Ramón wasted two decent chances, keeping the scoreline at 0-0 heading into the break.
The second half began with Como warned against their inefficiency, as Kamaldeen Sulemana carved open the defense with a dazzling run, forcing Butez into a fine save.
Ramón continued his unusual involvement up front, missing two more opportunities, while Nikola Krstović headed just wide at the other end.
Como became increasingly desperate, pushing more men forward and leaving space at the back.
Álvaro Morata was introduced to boost their attack, but Carnesecchi continued to frustrate the hosts with crucial saves.
Drama peaked in stoppage time when Como were awarded a penalty after Giorgio Scalvini handled in the box.
Nico Paz stepped up, but Carnesecchi produced a spectacular save to deny the chance, preserving Atalanta’s point and extending their unbeaten league run to six games (W4, D2).
Como remain sixth, just ahead of the resilient visitors in seventh.
