Serie A: Atalanta draw Udinese 2-2

Atalanta battled back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Udinese at the New Balance Arena, staving off back-to-back defeats under Raffaele Palladino.

Udinese looked threatening from the outset. Kingsley Ehizibue came close to giving the visitors an early lead, his shot from the edge of the area just missing the target.

Atalanta, however, weren’t without chances themselves—Gianluca Scamacca saw a curling effort sail narrowly past the post, and Isak Hien glanced a header wide from close range.

The deadlock was eventually broken by Udinese before halftime. Former Atalanta loanee Nicolo Zaniolo delivered a precise corner, which Thomas Kristensen met with a stunning header into the top corner, his first goal since the opening weekend of the season.

Scamacca, whose last three league goals had all come in home victories, struck the post early in the second half, failing to reduce the deficit.

Udinese then doubled their advantage through Keinan Davis, who curled a fine finish into the bottom corner following a scramble inside the box.

Atalanta pressed for a response. Kamaldeen Sulemana headed just wide before the hour mark, and substitute Nikola Krstovic squandered another promising chance from close range.

But another replacement, Nicola Zalewski, changed the momentum by delivering a perfect cross for Scamacca, who powered home a header to halve the deficit.

Scamacca wasn’t finished there. He earned a second opportunity when Maduka Okoye parried Krstovic’s initial effort, and the striker made no mistake with a decisive header, rescuing a point for La Dea.

While Atalanta missed the chance to climb into Europe’s qualifying spots, Udinese avoided a third straight away defeat, despite seeing their lead erased late in the game.
