Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, marked his competitive debut for Birmingham City in style, earning the Man of the Match award in their 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town at St Andrew’s on Friday.

The Nigeria international delivered a standout performance in the opening fixture of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Birmingham took the lead through Jay Stansfield five minutes before the hour mark, but Ipswich snatched a late equaliser in stoppage time when George Hirst converted a penalty after Lyndon Dykes was penalised for handball.

Osayi-Samuel impressed with his energy and precision, creating a clear scoring chance, completing all his long passes, and winning 80% of his ground duels.

The 27-year-old joined the Blues on a free transfer last month after parting ways with Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce.

He is no stranger to Championship football, having previously represented Queens Park Rangers and Blackpool.
