Saudi side Al-Hilal demand Man Utd’s Fernandes’ decision after £200m offer

Saudi Pro League giants, Al-Hilal, have reportedly issued a deadline to Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, urging him to decide on his future before the end of the month.

This comes after the club submitted a staggering £200 million package to lure him away from Old Trafford.

Following United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday, Fernandes reiterated his desire to remain at the club.

However, he also acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football and the possibility of being sold during the summer transfer window.

“I will be here until the club tells me it is time to leave,” Fernandes said.

“I am available to make the club have great days again. The day the club thinks I am too much, or it is time to leave, football is like that and you never know.

“If the club thinks it is time to leave, because they want to make some money, that is what it is and football is like that sometimes.”

According to MailOnline, Al-Hilal have tabled a lucrative three-year contract for the Portuguese midfielder, offering a weekly wage of £700,000.

The overall deal, including bonuses and signing-on fees, could see Fernandes earn up to £65 million per season.

The Saudi outfit is also prepared to pay Manchester United £100 million in transfer fees, more than double the £47 million United paid Sporting CP in January 2020.

Although United are not actively seeking to offload Fernandes, such a hefty fee would significantly aid their plans to revamp the squad under incoming manager Ruben Amorim.

The club is also grappling with financial strain due to their failure to secure European football next season, with losses from ticket sales, broadcasting rights, and sponsor bonuses estimated to be around £100 million.

Al-Hilal, who are set to finish second in the Saudi Pro League, are keen to finalize Fernandes’ signing in time for their Club World Cup campaign this summer.

They’ve been drawn in Group H, alongside Real Madrid, RB Salzburg, and Pachuca.

Meanwhile, United are believed to be entertaining offers for nearly every player in Amorim’s squad.

Alejandro Garnacho, who appeared to criticize Amorim after being left out of the Europa League final, has drawn interest from Chelsea and Napoli. The Argentine winger is reportedly available for £60 million.
