Sanwo-Olu assures Lagos retirees of prompt pension payments

Governor of Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the timely payment of pensions to retired civil servants in Lagos State, stating that those who have served the state deserve dignity and financial security in retirement.

The governor gave the assurance during a meeting with the leadership of the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, led by Otunba Nurudeen Ojora Adejiyan and Mrs. Dr. Abeke Taire.

Speaking at the meeting, Sanwo-Olu commended the retirees for their years of dedication and contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State.

“In Lagos, public service does not end when someone leaves office,” the governor said.

“These men and women devoted the most productive years of their lives to building our state, and they deserve honour, respect and peace of mind in retirement.”

He emphasised that the state government has continued to fulfil its pension obligations consistently, noting that regular payments remain a priority of his administration.

“One thing I am particularly proud of is that Lagos continues to meet its responsibilities to our retirees,” he stated.

“We have remained consistent and timely with pension payments because it is simply the right thing to do. After serving the state faithfully, no retiree should be anxious about when their pension will be paid.”

Sanwo-Olu added that while there is room for improvement in the system, the government’s direction remains clear.

“There is always more to improve, but our commitment is unwavering. In Lagos, we honour those who have served, and we will continue to strengthen the welfare framework that supports them,” he said.

The meeting highlights the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to sustain social welfare policies aimed at safeguarding the wellbeing of retired public officers and ensuring that pension disbursements remain prompt and reliable.
