Reijnders ready to fill Rodri void for Man City

Manchester City’s summer signing, Tijjani Reijnders, has said he is prepared to fill any role Pep Guardiola assigns him as the club navigates the early weeks of the season without injured midfield anchor Rodri.

Rodri’s latest setback will sideline the Spanish international until September, creating a gap in City’s midfield. Reijnders, however, insists he is ready to adapt wherever needed.

“In the Club World Cup, I played three different midfield roles, and I want to be the kind of player who can excel in all of them,” he told the club’s website. “Wherever the manager wants me, I’ll give my all.”

The Dutchman also revealed Guardiola has been drilling the squad heavily on ball retention, breaking down stubborn defensive blocks, and reacting quickly after losing possession.

“In the Club World Cup, we had a few games together, and now in training, we’re building better understanding,” he added. “I can already see the quality in the team, and that makes it easier for us midfielders to work together.”
