A trending video has captured the moment a pregnant woman reportedly gave birth inside a commercial bus in the Oshodi area of Lagos State, drawing attention from commuters and social media users.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after the woman went into labour while travelling in the vehicle.
The unexpected delivery turned an ordinary bus journey into an unusual scene, with the development attracting widespread reactions online.
Although the video has circulated widely, details surrounding the incident remain sketchy.
The identity of the woman, the sex of the newborn and the circumstances surrounding the delivery have yet to be established.
It was also unclear whether medical personnel or emergency responders attended to the mother during the delivery or whether she and her newborn were subsequently taken to a hospital for medical attention.
The incident is not the first time a woman has delivered a baby in an unusual location while travelling in Lagos.
On March 27, 2024, a woman, Kubura Oluyemo, delivered a baby girl inside a Bus Rapid Transit vehicle while travelling from Ikorodu towards Lagos Island.
A nurse who was among the passengers reportedly assisted her during the delivery.
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority later visited the family and presented gifts, including a preloaded Cowry card and cash assistance, following the birth.
Similarly, on February 19, 2024, a pregnant woman delivered a baby boy at Onipanu Bus Stop along Ikorodu Road after going into labour while waiting to board a commercial bus.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said its response team and paramedics worked with market women to provide a makeshift shelter for the delivery.
The mother and newborn were subsequently stabilised and taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
Another similar incident occurred in February 2017 when a woman delivered a baby girl inside a commercial bus at Sabo, Ikorodu.
Traffic officials and other sympathisers reportedly assisted her before she and the newborn were taken to Ita-Elewa Health Centre.
The latest development has once again highlighted the occurrence of unexpected childbirths in public spaces and the importance of prompt assistance from bystanders and emergency medical personnel.
