Police warn Abuja Okada riders against attacking task force officials

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has raised an alarm over an alleged plot by commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as okada riders, to launch attacks on task force operatives in the Kubwa area of Abuja.

This warning comes in response to a voice note currently making the rounds on social media, which claims that a group of okada riders have finalized plans to retaliate against officials of the FCT Task Force.

According to reports, the planned reprisal is linked to a recent enforcement operation by the task force during which over 200 motorcycles were seized.

In a statement issued Thursday night, the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, condemned the purported plan, stressing that such action constitutes a criminal offense.

“Such conduct amounts to criminality and will be met with the full weight of the law,” Adeh said.

She further noted that the police are fully prepared to respond to any breach of peace or threat to public safety.

“The command will not hesitate to deploy all lawful means, including arrests, prosecution, and necessary force, to deal decisively with perpetrators of public disorder,” the statement added.

Adeh emphasized the readiness of the police to defend public officials and uphold law and order.
