The Oyo State Police Command has expressed concern over the increasing cases of land grabbing across the state, warning that perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, the police described land grabbing as a growing menace that threatens peace, security, and the rights of residents in Oyo communities.

“Land grabbing undermines the trust and safety of our communities, often resulting in conflicts, displacements, and the violation of fundamental rights,” Osifeso said.

“The Command, in collaboration with the Oyo State Government, is fully prepared to take decisive action against anyone found culpable.”

The police urged residents to avoid self-help or violence in land disputes and instead pursue legal channels for redress.

“We encourage members of the public to seek resolution through lawful means. Anyone who engages in unlawful acquisition or uses intimidation to claim land will face appropriate legal consequences,” the statement added.

Osifeso reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting the rights and property of residents.

He also called on the public to continue supporting security agencies by reporting suspicious activities.
