The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued two teenagers who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Song Local Government Area of the state.
The victims were freed during a coordinated security operation carried out in Gwewan Village, Dumne, following actionable intelligence, the police said.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that one suspected kidnapper was arrested during the operation, while others escaped.
“The Adamawa State Police Command successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested one suspected kidnapper during a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area,” Nguroje stated.
He explained that the operation was carried out through the strategic deployment of combined security assets on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, involving police operatives and local security groups.
According to the police, the joint team stormed a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Suktu Mountain on February 11, 2026.
“Upon sighting the operatives, the suspects engaged the security team in a gun duel but were eventually overpowered and forced to flee, abandoning the victims,” Nguroje said.
The rescued victims were identified as Rabe Mamman Sani, 18, and Aminu Mamman Sani, 16, who were reportedly unharmed during the incident.
The police spokesperson confirmed that one suspect, Sanda Bello, 22, a resident of Salasa Village in Dumne, was arrested at the scene.
“The suspect has confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping,” he added.
Nguroje said the victims were taken to a medical facility for examination, while efforts were ongoing to track down other members of the gang who escaped with possible gunshot wounds.
He added that the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit had been directed to carry out a discreet investigation to dismantle the syndicate.
Commending the collaboration between the police and local security outfits, the Commissioner of Police reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
“Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious individuals in their communities, particularly those with gunshot injuries,” Nguroje said.
