The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant breakthroughs in security operations across multiple states, rescuing kidnapped victims and apprehending dangerous criminals.
In Katsina State, police operatives working with other security agencies engaged armed bandits in a fierce gun battle on June 8, 2025, along the Danmusa-Mara Dangeza village road. The operation successfully rescued 11 kidnap victims unharmed after overpowering the criminals who fled with gunshot wounds.
In Delta State, police arrested notorious kidnapping kingpin Abubakar Hassan, a 30-year-old who led a cross-state syndicate operating in Delta, Rivers, Imo and Enugu States.
During interrogation, Hassan confessed to coordinating multiple operations along the Ughelli-Ozoro axis and led officers to his forest hideout where two AK-47 rifles, four magazines and thirty-two rounds of ammunition were recovered. This followed earlier arrests of three gang members.
A separate operation in Delta saw police intercept illegal arms during routine stop-and-search along Ughelli Road. Officers discovered one locally fabricated revolver pump-action rifle and fifteen live cartridges in a vehicle, leading to the arrest of 38-year-old driver Obi Ezekiel.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended the officers’ professionalism and reiterated the Force’s commitment to eliminating criminal safe havens nationwide.
