Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu confirmed that a significant quantity of banned substances was recovered during the operation. He emphasized the link between drug abuse and criminality, stating that such substances “are often the driving force behind criminal activities across the state.”
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad based in Enugwu-Ukwu as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime in Oko and surrounding communities.
The arrested suspects have been identified as: Joseph Chukwura; Emmanuel Chukwuemeka; Ifeanyi Agbanari; Igwe Chineche; Mmadufor Chinecherem; Chibueze Chukwumankpam; Mmadubom Uchenna. All suspects are between the ages of 24 and 35.

He noted that their statements may provide crucial leads in ongoing investigations, particularly regarding recent violent incidents in Oko, including a disturbing case that resulted in multiple fatalities.
Ikenga expressed optimism about the operation’s broader impact, stating that it would not only help curb the rising tide of criminality in the area but could also lead to the dismantling of other criminal networks operating within the region.
The raid represents part of the Anambra State Police Command’s intensified efforts to tackle drug-related crimes and their associated violent consequences across the state. Authorities have vowed to sustain the crackdown on illicit drug activities, which they say fuel various forms of criminal behavior.
