The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a cult group believed to be behind the distribution of illegal firearms across parts of the state.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspects—identified as Adenuga Tosin, Jesutofunmi Ezekiel, and Adeniji Juwon—were apprehended during a tactical operation in the Owode-Ikorodu area following a tip-off from a credible source.

“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists found in possession of a locally made pistol and six live cartridges. This was the result of an intelligence-driven operation carried out by our tactical team,” Hundeyin stated.

He noted that preliminary investigations indicate the suspects are members of a known cult group linked to violent crimes in the state.

“Our findings so far have revealed that these individuals played key roles in the movement and distribution of illegal firearms within Lagos. Their activities pose a grave threat to public safety and order,” he added.

The police further disclosed that efforts are underway to track and apprehend additional members of the gang who are currently on the run.

Hundeyin assured the public that justice would be served, saying, “Once investigations are concluded, the suspects will be charged to court in accordance with the law.”

This development follows a series of cult-related incidents in the Ikorodu area. In May, a popular shawarma vendor identified as Benjamin was shot dead by suspected cultists at Ebute-Ipakodo, a case believed to be linked to gang rivalry.

The police reiterated their commitment to curbing cultism and illegal arms proliferation across the state, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
