A Libyan man and his mother have been arrested in Sirte for allegedly attempting to smuggle six undocumented Nigerian migrants.
The arrest occurred on Sunday, August 17, during a routine police patrol in the Abu Najim area.
According to a statement by Migrant Rescue Watch, an organization that tracks migrant movements, the suspects were intercepted while conveying the Nigerians in their vehicle.
Migrant Rescue Watch wrote on X: “Abu Najim Police Dept. (Sirte) seized a vehicle and arrested a Libya driver (‘A.M.M.’) accompanied by his mother for attempted human smuggling of 6 undocumented #migrants of Nigerian nationality. All referred to competent authorities for legal action.”
