Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have successfully uncovered and dismantled a kidnapping syndicate responsible for the abduction of a 22-year-old woman in Fika Local Government Area.

In a statement released to journalists in Damaturu on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the development.

The statement stated, “On May 6, 2025, at about 1758 hours, unidentified armed individuals attacked the residence of Maikudi in Tashan Randa village, Fika LGA, abducting his 22-year-old daughter and firing shots that injured a neighboring girl.”

It added that swift action by the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters led to the launch of an investigation, which ultimately resulted in the victim’s rescue and the disruption of the kidnappers’ hideout.

“The police received demands for a N5,000,000 ransom, which facilitated the rescue operation,” the command stated.

The statement further disclosed that collaborative efforts between the police and local hunters led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Waiti Bello, 30, of Jangalawaje Village, and Idrissa Adamu, 35, of Biriri Village in Gujba LGA. It noted that other members of the group remain at large, but efforts are ongoing to track them down.

“The suspects have confessed to the crime and are cooperating with security operatives. Recovered items include: one Dane gun and one motorcycle,” it said.

Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ado, while commenting on the breakthrough, reiterated the command’s dedication to eliminating criminal elements from the state and urged residents to support security agencies through active cooperation.
