The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a 24-year-old man, Chidi Nwoye, for allegedly stealing vehicles and tricycles with the aid of master keys.

In a statement on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect was arrested by operatives attached to the Isiowulu Police Division in collaboration with local vigilantes.

He was intercepted along Minaj Road, Obosi, in the early hours of August 22, 2025, while driving a stolen tricycle.

Ikenga revealed that Nwoye confessed during interrogation that he specialized in using master keys to unlock and steal vehicles from where they were parked.

“The suspect was arrested while operating a stolen tricycle, and he admitted to using master keys to gain access to vehicles and tricycles. Several stolen vehicles and other incriminating exhibits were recovered from him,” Ikenga said.

He added that investigations have been extended to the suspect’s hideout to recover more stolen property.

The police urged members of the public whose vehicles or personal effects had recently been stolen to visit the Isiowulu Police Station for identification.

“The suspect will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations,” the spokesperson stated.
