The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued three abducted victims following a coordinated operation in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil.
According to Wakil, the operation was launched after police received a distress call on September 29, 2025, from a resident of Euga village, reporting that gunmen had abducted three men identified as Idi Umar, Idi Lawan, and Musa Lawal.
“Upon receiving the report, a joint team comprising the Toro Area Command, Toro Division, and Nabordo Division, working alongside local security groups, immediately mobilised to the area,” Wakil said. “The coordinated response led to the successful tracking of the suspects to the outskirts of the village and the safe rescue of the victims without any harm.”
He listed the arrested suspects as Abubakar Usman, Adamu Alo, Abubakar Aliyu, Umar Habu, Abubakar Mamman Abubakar, and Shehu Sambo.
Wakil confirmed that the victims have been reunited with their families in good health, while the suspects are currently under investigation.
“The suspects have begun providing useful information to investigators,” he said. “They will be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) in Bauchi for detailed profiling and prosecution upon completion of investigations.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers for their swift and professional response, describing the operation as a demonstration of the Command’s commitment to combating criminal activities in the state.
“The Command will continue to intensify efforts to rid Bauchi of criminal elements,” Aliyu said. “We urge residents to remain vigilant and to share timely and credible information that can assist in maintaining peace and security across the state.”
The Police Command reiterated its commitment to working with local communities and security partners to ensure the safety of lives and property in Bauchi State.
