Paul Pogba has admitted he did not feature for AS Monaco as often as he had hoped following the early termination of his contract with the Ligue 1 club.
Monaco and Pogba mutually agreed to end their relationship on Wednesday, bringing an injury-hit spell at the club to an end a year earlier than initially planned.
The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder joined Monaco as a free agent last summer after serving a doping ban.
However, fitness problems severely restricted his involvement, with the Frenchman making only six appearances in all competitions.
Pogba started just one match and accumulated only 115 minutes of playing time during his time at the club.
Despite his limited opportunities, the 2018 World Cup winner thanked Monaco’s president, management, staff, teammates and supporters for their backing.
“I would like to thank the President and the management, my teammates, all the staff members and every supporter who believed in me. Representing this club and the principality was an incredible experience.
“AS Monaco is an incredible club and although I did not play as many games as I had hoped, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to wear their colours. Daghe Munegu !”
Pogba’s departure now leaves the midfielder facing the next chapter of his career after a difficult period marked by injuries and his doping suspension.
