Plateau cleric alleges varsity blacklist of children over ‘Christian genocide’ stand

The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has raised concerns that his children are being denied admission into Nigerian universities due to his outspoken stance on the ongoing killings of Christians in Plateau State and other parts of northern Nigeria.

In a statement released on Friday, Rev. Dachomo said the alleged discrimination has caused significant distress to his family.

“My children have been denied admission into universities, especially in the North, because of my stance and position in exposing Christian genocide,” he said.

He explained that the problem arises during admission screenings, where officials allegedly set aside applications once they see the surname “Dachomo.”

“Once they see the name Dachomo, the application is allegedly set aside or quietly dropped,” he added.

Rev. Dachomo noted that such occurrences have happened on multiple occasions, suggesting that his children are being unfairly targeted because of his activism.

“My children have applied to different institutions over time, but the outcome has often been rejection without clear reasons. The pattern has repeated itself mostly in northern institutions, and this is not a mere coincidence,” he said.

The cleric called on government authorities and educational institutions to ensure that his children are not punished for his public advocacy.

“My children are innocent and have no involvement in my activism or public statements. They should not be denied opportunities because of my beliefs or outspokenness,” he stressed.

The statement comes amid ongoing tensions in Plateau State and other regions of northern Nigeria, where attacks on Christian communities by bandits and terrorists have been widely reported.
