The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that popular TikTok content creator, Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, is safe amid reports of his alleged abduction during a livestream on Wednesday night.
Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, gave the update on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
He said initial checks showed that the 20-year-old influencer was neither harmed nor missing.
“We are investigating the allegation, but we can confirm that the person in question, Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, is at home safe and sound. His vehicle is also intact, all his phones and properties, nothing was missing,” Hundeyin said.
The police clarified that the nature of the incident was still under review to determine whether it was a genuine abduction, a staged event, or simply a false alarm.
“That is what we are investigating. All his properties were intact, and there was no violence whatsoever,” the police spokesman added.
Earlier reports suggested that Peller was whisked away by armed men while livestreaming on TikTok.
In the widely circulated footage, he appeared to mistake the men for security operatives before being taken away.
Peller, who rose to fame in 2021 through short-form comedy videos on TikTok, has since built a strong following by hosting livestreamed shows and events.
