PDP NWC suspends legal adviser, national secretary

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has suspended four of its senior national officers for one month, following an emergency meeting in Abuja on Saturday.

Those affected are the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and the National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature.

The decision comes in the wake of a recent court order that stopped the party from holding its planned national convention.

Announcing the suspension to journalists after the meeting held at the PDP’s Legacy House in Maitama, Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the action was taken in line with the PDP Constitution.

“The National Working Committee reached this resolution after reviewing the situation surrounding the court ruling and the conduct of some of our national officers,” Ologunagba stated.

“Accordingly, the National Legal Adviser, Deputy Legal Adviser, National Secretary, and National Organising Secretary have been suspended for a period of one month and referred to the Disciplinary Committee for further action.”

He added that the party remains committed to lawful internal processes and will not tolerate actions that undermine its unity or operations.
