The Peoples Democratic Party will commence its 101st National Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

The three-day event, which will run through Friday, July 25, is expected to focus on internal restructuring, reconciliation, and strategic planning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This was made known in a statement released on Tuesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

According to Ologunagba, the meeting is in line with Section 31(1) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), and will draw together a wide range of party leaders from across the country.

“The NEC meeting will bring together our National Chairman, serving and former Presidents and Vice Presidents who are members of the party, the Chairman and Secretary of the Board of Trustees (BoT), and all BoT members,” the statement read.

He also revealed that key stakeholders expected to attend include principal officers from both chambers of the National Assembly who are PDP members, 18 serving Senators, 24 House of Representatives members, PDP Governors, all National Officers and their deputies, State Chairmen, six ex-officio members, and former governors elected on the platform of the party.

Ologunagba said the party is entering a critical phase of rebuilding, adding that the PDP remains Nigeria’s most viable political alternative.

“The PDP is the only political party with the national spread, organizational structure, and credibility to dislodge the APC at the polls. There is no community in Nigeria where the PDP is not represented,” he stated.

The NEC meeting is expected to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming national convention, electoral strategies, and efforts to reposition the party in the current political climate.

“With Nigerians disillusioned by poor governance, our people are yearning for the return of the PDP,” Ologunagba noted.

The party’s slogan, “Power to the People,” is expected to guide discussions aimed at unifying the party and energizing its base ahead of 2027.
